Payhip Review: How to Sell Digital Products with Payhip [Video]
Note: This post contains some affilite links.
Hey hey hey peeps! I’m back with a new blog post that's going to show you how to sell digital products online Payhip.
Just so you know:
I am going to geek out quite a bit in this post, but that's only because I'm super excited to help you start selling like a Pro with Payhip -- a great shopping cart tool for infopreneurs.
I recently started using Payhip to sell digital products on an affiliate website that I run and I must say… I’m really impressed with it.
So I figured, I would create a detailed blog post that shows you how to get things setup.
So let’s dive in.
What is PayHip?
Payhip is an online platform that you can use to sell digital products and memberships like a champ!
I mean seriously, you can sell everything from eBooks, printables and workbooks and software-- to accepting recurring payments for a membership program that you want to run.
Payhip is just that dope!
The great thing about this platform is that you can get started selling online for FREE to test out some of the features.
This includes things like:
- The ability to start selling products immediately. That's right peeps! You can literally sign up for Payhip, add a product, then start waking up to sales landing in your email inbox.
- You can sell your products anywhere online. Yep that's right. Just simply copy and paste your product links from Payhip and add them to your online store on your blog, your social media accounts and practically everywhere.
- Products will get delivered directly to your customers as instant downloads. This way you don’t have to worry about trying to host products from your own website.
- Accept credit card payments online via PayPal and Stripe.
- Setup an affiliate marketing program. This is HUGE! This will give you the opportunity to partner with happy customers that love your products and want to earn additional revenue by promoting them for you.
- Customize your checkout cart. This is a feature that I love using in Thrivecart and one that I was excited to see Payhip offer.
- You can keep in touch with your customers. Whenever you have a new sale, or plan to roll out a new product, you can send this information out to all of your current customers.
- The ability to integrate your Payhip account with your email marketing service. This will give you the opportunity to reach out to your customers directly via email.
- You don't have to be a tech expert to use this platform. This is one thing that I absolutely love about the platform is that its easy to use. You don't have to deal or tinker around with any complicated "techy" stuff. Just simply sign up, add a product and start selling.
And a lot of other stuff too!
Okay…
So, I’ve listed out some of the main features that you will get access to with this platform.
Now it’s time to dive into my quick start guide to selling digital products with Payhip.
A Step By Step Guide to Selling Digital Products With Payhip
Selling digital products with Payhip is super easy. In this part of the blog post, let’s go through a quick rundown of how to sell your first product.
Oh and just a heads up:
In case you're looking for digital product ideas, check out this post that covers 10 types of digital products you can create with Canva in a weekend.
Step 1: Sign up for an account with Payhip.
The great thing about using this program is that you can get started for FREE $.99 🙂 After you sign up for an account, will get prompted to answer a few questions regarding your store like:
Store Name
Your address
Your paypal account details and etc
Step 2: Under the “Account” tab, click on “Settings” to set up your account settings.
From here you can click on all of the tabs to add things like your payment details for Paypal and Stripe.
With the Payhip free account, you will get charged a small 5% transaction fee for every sale that you make. So for example, if you sell an eBook for $19.99, you can expect to make $18.99 from the sale.
Step 3: Add your first product.
To do this, you simply click on “Add your first product” under Store Essentials.
Step 4: Click “Add a product”.
After you do this, you will be taken to a screen where you will select the “Type” of product that you want to sell.
This includes: Digital Products, Physical Products and Subscription Billing (aka Memberships). Here, you will click “Digital Product”.
Step 5: Add your Digital Product Details.
On this page, you will need to do a few things like:
Upload your Digital Product Files
Payhip allows you to upload several different types of files. This includes things like PDF’s, Videos and etc.

Add the Title for Your Product
You’ll want to make sure that you have a great title for your product.
For example, when creating a title for your digital product, you’ll want to think about things like:
Who your product is geared towards
What it will help them accomplish
Focusing on ONE thing that you can help someone accomplish
Add a Price for Your Product
Here you can set a price for your product. If you are not sure how to price your products, there are a few things that you can do.
Looking around at other websites in your industry to get an idea of how they are pricing their products.
Pricing based on what you want to make per month/year with a specific product. For example, if you want to make an extra $500 a month with a digital product, then that means your pricing model should be: $25 X 20 = $500, $50 X 10 = $500, $100 X 5 = $500 and so on and so forth.

Add Cover Images for your Product
You’ll want to make sure that your cover images are visually appealing. For designing your cover images, you can either: DIY design them or Outsource your design.
I use Canva to create all of the cover images for digital products that I create. However, if you don’t want to deal with DIY designing your own graphics, check out websites like Fiverr or Upwork to outsource your design.
Add a Great Product Description
Listen, one of the things that you want to get great at when it comes to creating digital products is learning how to write great product descriptions that sell.
Some things that you’ll want to think about with writing your product descriptions are:
- Who your product is targeting (bloggers, creatives, coaches, consultants, etc)
- The benefits of using the product
- The pain points/frustrations that your target customer has
- What the product includes
- Adding testimonials where possible
- A strong call to action (grab the product, etc)
After you have finished adding all of these items, click “Add Product”. You will then be taken to a new page that will display your product.
Now, you can click on the “Share/Embed” button to share your product on social media or embed your product code into your website's online shop to sell it.
Now, you can click on the “Share/Embed” button to share your product on social media or embed your product code into your website's online shop to sell it.
On the “Share” page, you can Share a link to by copying the link to your product, embedding a button on your sales page, or embedding your product into a page on your website.
Now, you should be all set.
Other Tips for Selling Digital Products Like a CHAMP
Now that you’ve added your first product to Payhip, here are a few additional tips for selling digital products like a champ:
1. Create an attractive sales page for your product.
I’m currently using Thrive Architect to create all of my sales pages because it’s easy to use and works well with WordPress.
With Thrive, there are tons of ready-made sales page templates that you can use to whip up a beautiful sales page for your product -- fast.
Leadpages is a fantastic alternative for creating sales pages if you don’t have a WordPress website.
2. Create a promo schedule and plan.
You’ve added your products to Payhip. (Hooray for that). Now it’s time to get the word out about the product.
This is where creating a product promo plan of sorts will come into play. One way to market your product is by creating a “Product Promo” calendar of sorts.
With this calendar, you can assign yourself “marketing tasks” that you can complete every day for marketing a specific product.
3. Create promotional assets.
This will include things like product promo graphics, social media promo graphics, product promo posts for social media, animated graphics, blog posts related to your product, testimonial graphics, product teaser videos, and testimonial graphics.
4. If you have a budget, invest in ads.
I know that online advertising can be scary for some reason, but seriously it does work. If you have a small budget to allocate towards setting up Facebook or IG ads, it may be a good idea to run those ads to your audience to inspire more sales.
5. Run special offers to your email list.
If you have an email list (which hopefully you do), you can run special promo deals and sales to them about your products.
Wrapping Things Up
Payhip is without a doubt a great platform that you can use to sell digital products, and memberships -- with ease.
If you are a blogger with an online shop, a services provider that wants to take back your time and scale your income by selling digital products or anyone that wants an easy way to sell products online, then I would suggest giving Payhip a try.
I hope that you enjoyed this and would love to know your thoughts and experiences with selling digital products thus far and what products you plan to create.
